Toon Factory, a French animation studio producing series for broadcasters in France, Quebec and beyond, was struggling with rapidly growing high‑definition video files, overloaded Windows 2003 servers and slow network access that forced staff to physically move external drives. To address these needs for high I/O performance, scalability, reliable network access and data integrity, Toon Factory engaged Synology Inc. and selected the RackStation RS3412xs as their solution.

Synology Inc. deployed the RS3412xs with affordable 3TB SATA drives in RAID 10, an RX1211 expansion option, and four Gigabit network interfaces (plus HTTPS security), allowing fast read/write performance, Citrix XenServer compatibility and seamless collaboration with global partners. The deployment centralized storage, eliminated shipping hard drives, enabled audio/video workstations to run at high speed, and delivered measurable gains — notably a 66% reduction in electricity consumption and lower cooling and shipping costs — while providing scalable capacity for future growth.
