The Digital Foundry - Customer Case Study

The Digital Foundry, a Sydney-based IT solutions provider and operator of TDF Cloud Services, faced inflexible, uneconomical large-drive arrays as its hosted services expanded. To meet demands for business-grade functionality, redundancy and VMware-compatible storage, The Digital Foundry selected Synology Inc., deploying products including the RC18015xs+, RS3614xs+, RS814+ and RS3411RPxs for iSCSI datastores, WebDAV remote desktop connectivity and encrypted remote backups.

Synology Inc. implemented RC18015xs+ units as high-availability iSCSI shared storage (expandable beyond 1 PB) with snapshot protection, RS3614xs+ for WebDAV client storage and RS814+ devices for cost-effective offsite DR, plus a RS3411RPxs backup target. The result was faster 10GbE I/O, reduced hardware duplication and lower DR costs, enabling TDF Cloud Services to grow from 4 to 46 servers, support on‑premise DR for over 80 customers, and deliver secure, redundant, scalable cloud services.
