TFKA - Customer Case Study

TFKA (The Flying Kick Asia), a film/TV/digital content producer serving clients like Disney and Mediacorp, was struggling with a production workflow built on local and external drives: only one editor could access a drive at a time, searching footage was slow, international delivery via HDD courier was costly and slow, and basic file servers lacked Link Aggregation/10GbE support so editors experienced drop‑frames and lost productivity. TFKA turned to Synology Inc., initially deploying a DS1813+ (later upgraded to DS1817+) and additional models (DS416play, DS216j) to address their storage and delivery needs.

Synology Inc. implemented a NAS‑based workflow with iSCSI LUNs, link aggregation and optional 10GbE, thin‑provisioning, Data Manager for archiving, and a personal cloud for protected client downloads. The solution enabled multiple editors to access reference files over high‑speed LAN, eliminated frequent drop‑frames, scaled to growing 4K workloads, and automated backup and secure sharing—significantly speeding collaboration and delivery and allowing TFKA’s team to focus on creativity and production.
