Tekkie Town, a leading South African sport and lifestyle shoe chain with more than 300 stores, faced rapidly growing transaction databases and the need for centralised, scalable backups, offsite disaster recovery and a private cloud for 180 employees. To address these challenges they selected Synology Inc., deploying hardware and software including the RS3614xs, DS1513+ with DX513 expansion and Synology’s DiskStation Manager (DSM) with Hyper Backup, Cloud Station and Syslog Server.

Synology Inc. implemented a RS3614xs at head office to back up 57 servers and sync computer profiles for 180 employees, and a DS1513+ + DX513 as a 10‑bay offsite replica using Hyper Backup for disaster recovery. DSM and Cloud Station delivered a private cloud with version control, while Syslog Server reduced administration overhead; the result was high‑performance, reliable backups, offsite recoverability, easy scalability (RS3614xs 12‑bay expandable to 36) and improved business continuity for Tekkie Town.
