Sudden Impact, a million‑pound‑turnover printer service and maintenance company, was struggling with ageing servers that lacked processing power, storage and affordable licensing—causing slow access to email and files for its sales team. To address this, Sudden Impact turned to Synology Inc. and deployed Synology DiskStation appliances (DS212 for email and DS412+ for file storage), leveraging features such as Synology Hybrid RAID, the built‑in email server and Network Backup.

Synology Inc. replaced four legacy servers with a compact solution: a DS212 as a dedicated email server providing 4 TB of mail storage and two DS412+ units (each with four drives in Synology Hybrid RAID) for central file storage and Internet backup via DSM. The result was seamless continuity for users (Outlook remained unchanged), improved redundancy and faster access to data, reduced capital and operating costs (lower power and cooling requirements) and simpler maintenance—converting multiple aging servers into a couple of reliable, cost‑effective DiskStations.
