Spinifex Group, a motion-graphics and immersive-media studio, needed a fast, reliable file server to replace an aging SAN and an unreliable high-end NAS before its busiest production season. They required a solution that would perform well in a mixed Windows/Mac environment and meet tight deadlines for high‑resolution motion‑graphics deliverables; they chose Synology Inc.’s RS3614xs+ (with a later addition of an RS3617xs+) as the replacement.

Synology Inc. deployed the RS3614xs+ (and later an RS3617xs+) with bonded dual 10GbE to a Brocade switch, providing SMB and AFP support for a mixed OS studio. The Synology units reliably served 12 After Effects/3DS Max workstations and a 72‑node render farm simultaneously, delivering faster performance under heavy load, easier management, and greater reliability than previous systems. As a result Spinifex Group added the RS3617xs+ and decommissioned other file‑storage solutions, meeting tight deadlines for large image sequences and high‑resolution projects.
