REWE Fröhlich (REWE) needed data‑protection‑compliant video surveillance and a secure, low‑bandwidth branch networking solution when opening a new supermarket and larger office. With limited ADSL at some sites and a requirement to document construction and support multiple branches, the retailer turned to Synology Inc. and its DiskStation NAS systems and apps — including DS916+, DS212+, DS115, Surveillance Station, VisualStation (VS360HD) and Cloud Station Suite — to meet surveillance, storage and synchronization needs.

Synology Inc. implemented a multi‑DiskStation topology (three DS916+ at headquarters plus existing DS212+/DS115), using Surveillance Station CMS for centralized camera management, VisualStation displays and DS cam for mobile/PoE monitoring, and Cloud Station for cross‑branch file sync without VPN. The deployment centralized video management across stores, enabled live monitoring to optimize customer flow and safety, automated VisualStation recovery to remove manual intervention, and maintained secure data sync over narrow‑band ADSL—delivering measurable operational efficiencies and simpler, more reliable branch collaboration.
