New Taipei City Government - Customer Case Study

New Taipei City Government, which serves the largest population among Taiwan’s cities, faced an outdated file system that hindered administration, caused data inconsistency and limited access management. To modernize its Cloud-based File Cabinet System (launched November 2011), New Taipei City Government adopted Synology Inc.’s NAS solutions, deploying two RS10613xs+ units to establish a private cloud accessible via LAN, web interface and mobile apps.

Synology Inc. implemented the RS10613xs+ (with DS3611xs used for backup and Synology’s Time Backup and DSM features) to deliver intuitive management, versatile file sharing and improved reliability. The solution supports up to 4,000 concurrent users in File Station, simplifies privilege controls with built‑in Windows ACLs, provides versioned backups and mobile access for BYOD, and materially increased IT service efficiency—prompting the city to plan further storage expansion.
