Minneapolis Radiation Oncology loses less than 10 seconds of data with Synology

Minneapolis Radiation Oncology (MRO) needed to protect sensitive patient data from ransomware and hardware failure. Their previous point-in-time backup solution was not frequent enough, risking data loss. They also required a way to ensure their numerous virtual machines could be restored in seconds to avoid clinic downtime. To address this, they worked with Synology Inc.

Synology implemented a solution using several of its all-flash arrays, including the FS3410 and FS6400 models. This provided continuous data replication and a failover system to run their entire virtual environment. The measurable impact was a drastic reduction in downtime; when a production array failed, MRO recovered with less than 10 seconds of data loss and ran a clinic from a portable Synology NAS for two days without interruption.
