Milton Keynes College - Customer Case Study

Milton Keynes College, the largest further-education provider in the city with about 7,000 students and 2,100 staff across three sites, was running out of storage and struggling with inefficient backups and AD integration for roughly 400 Mac students. To address these issues they engaged Synology Inc., deploying Synology NAS solutions (including RS3412RPxs/DiskStation) to provide scalable, cross‑platform file access and better backup capabilities.

Synology Inc. installed main and expansion NAS units on each campus, increasing usable capacity from roughly 4TB to about 26TB with the option to add another 40TB, and enabled automated daily backups via Synology Time Backup and replication via Shared Folder Sync. AD integration, DiskStation services and the built‑in Recycle Bin let Mac and PC students access, restore and share course files with correct permissions, and within 3–4 months the college eliminated storage shortfalls, automated backups, and restored ubiquitous access for the 400 Mac students.
