A Synology Inc. Case Study
Marshall Day Acoustics, a global acoustic engineering firm, was running Ubuntu/Linux file servers and a single central server with no offsite backup, which proved expensive to maintain, caused compatibility problems with Windows workstations, and left backups occasionally unreliable. To address these risks they engaged Synology Inc. for a NAS‑based solution, including Synology DSM features such as Hyper Backup and Windows Active Directory integration.
Synology Inc. deployed multiple NAS units (2× DS1815+, 3× DS1515+, DS916+ and the existing DS415+) and configured daily on‑site and off‑site Hyper Backup jobs, Veeam support for VM backups, and AD integration for seamless Windows file access. The block‑level incremental Hyper Backup and Smart Recycle (256 versions) minimized storage use while ensuring dependable recovery across sites, resulting in fewer IT interruptions, reliable disaster recovery, and greater operational confidence for Marshall Day Acoustics.
