LWG (Bavarian State Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture) faced the need for a robust, low‑maintenance storage system when its Computer Science and Automation department moved into a new building; key requirements were reliability, Active Directory integration, flexibility for nine divisions, and scalable capacity. After evaluating options, they selected Synology Inc.'s DS1813+ NAS.

Synology Inc. integrated the DS1813+ (with DX513 expansion) into LWG’s existing network and Active Directory, enabling fast setup, AD‑based access control, and centralized permissions. LWG currently uses 16 TB of storage scalable up to 72 TB, deployed a second DS1813+ for synchronized backups, and now enjoys stable 24/7 operation with reduced administration time and lower costs.
