GEO Technical Laboratory, a subsidiary of Zenrin Co., Ltd. that develops 3‑D map products, faced a pressing need for a backup‑friendly, high‑capacity file server able to store 100 million files and scale from 16 TB to ~40 TB within budget while preserving AD‑linked ACLs. After testing DiskStation Manager (DSM) and Synology High Availability, they selected Synology Inc. enterprise models (RS18016xs+, RX1216sas+, RS10613xs+) for their performance, stability and manageability.

Synology Inc. implemented an HA NAS solution with DSM and Storage Manager, enabling GEO to validate 100,512,295 files (3.94 TB) and successfully migrate the existing ~16 TB dataset in days—faster than expected. The deployment delivered stable multi‑user performance, easy expansion, automated alerts, and HA clustering at no extra cost, resolving backup lag and scalability issues while meeting the laboratory’s capacity and reliability requirements.
