First Leap English - Customer Case Study

First Leap English, a subsidiary of TAL Education Group with more than 100 learning centers, 30,000 students and 2,000 staff, needed a secure, efficient way to distribute and sync large volumes of teaching materials across 30+ cities. Concerned about privacy, account security and the inefficiency of manual hard-drive transfers and public cloud uploads, First Leap turned to Synology Inc. and adopted Synology NAS (notably DS3617xs at HQ and DS1517+ at branches) to centralize storage and control.

Synology Inc. implemented a private-cloud topology with two DS3617xs configured as a high-availability cluster at headquarters and 300 DS1517+ units at branch sites, using DSM account management, Cloud Station ShareSync and Cloud Station Backup with SSL and up to 32 file-version history. The deployment eliminated manual copying, sped up distribution (e.g., nationwide access to revised materials in Jan 2018), centralized backups, reduced data-loss risk and showed healthy cluster metrics (HA latency ~0.1 ms, host utilization ~12%), freeing First Leap English to focus more on teaching quality.
