Express Stores - Customer Case Study

Express Stores, a premier T‑Mobile USA partner operating 200+ retail locations, faced a strained surveillance infrastructure as it planned to add 81 stores: off‑the‑shelf equipment lacked central management, hardware incompatibilities and constant troubleshooting overwhelmed its small IT team. After evaluating options, Express Stores selected Synology Inc. and its Surveillance Station solution with Central Management System and RackStation hardware to modernize and centralize monitoring.

Synology Inc. deployed 76 RackStation RS816/RS815RP+ units plus a master RS18017xs+ host, connecting 934 IP cameras across 76 stores and enabling centralized CMS monitoring and remote maintenance. The rollout cut the need for on‑site visits, allowed IT and field managers to access live and recorded feeds remotely, and proved resilient during Hurricane Irma (power‑recovery features kept 32 Florida stores online). Built‑in SHR, link aggregation and wide camera/drive compatibility improved uptime and scalability, and Express Stores plans to expand Synology Inc.’s solution to all 200+ locations.
