A Synology Inc. Case Study
Coupland's Bakeries, one of New Zealand’s largest independent bakery chains with 26 retail stores and two manufacturing facilities, faced frequent failures and slow response from an old Windows-based surveillance system that hampered live monitoring and playback. Seeking a reliable, cost-effective IP solution, Coupland's Bakeries selected Synology Inc.’s surveillance offering—deploying DiskStation units running Synology Surveillance Station to replace their legacy platform.
Synology Inc. implemented over 30 DiskStation units to centrally manage 265 IP cameras across all 26 stores and two factories, with local live displays, RAID-protected storage, DS cam mobile access, and support for Vivotek fisheye cameras with effective dewarping. The Synology solution delivered scalable, stable, feature-rich surveillance that improved centralized and remote monitoring, sped incident response, and proved cost-effective—after two years the company expanded use into network backup and storage while continuing to monitor all sites reliably.
