The Chiefs, a professional rugby team from Hamilton, New Zealand, needed faster, expandable storage so multiple analysts could simultaneously stream and review large HD game footage on Macs. To meet performance and budget constraints they selected Synology Inc.’s DS1515+ NAS for its combination of speed, capacity and expansion options.

Synology Inc. deployed a 5-bay DS1515+ (expandable to 15 bays) with four 1GbE LAN ports and Link Aggregation, delivering up to 450 MB/s read and 392 MB/s write throughput. As a result the Chiefs moved from hour-long 15 GB transfers across multiple Macs to about 8 minutes, a roughly 200% observed performance increase, while gaining room to grow storage without breaking the budget.
