Blue Sky is a global film distribution company that delivers large Digital Cinema Packages (50–150 GB) to cinemas, festivals and online platforms but struggled with slow transfers, scattered storage, varied partner IT/privacy restrictions and duplicated files. To address the need for high-speed, resumable transfers and centralized management, Blue Sky turned to Synology Inc., adopting its Presto File Server solution and an RS3617xs NAS.

Synology Inc. supplied an RS3617xs configured with 12x10 TB RAID 6 and six isolated virtual DSM instances; Presto File Server (300 Mbps license) was deployed on one instance while Btrfs copy-on-write and snapshots eliminated redundant copies and Hyper Backup nightly snapshots to a DS1513+ protected data. The Synology Inc. deployment replaced previous tools with consistently high transfer speeds, centralized permissions and monitoring, reduced storage usage, and delivered a measurable 60% reduction in total cost.
