A Synology Inc. Case Study

Preview of the Black Sticks Case Study

Black Sticks - Customer Case Study

The Black Sticks, New Zealand’s national field hockey teams, needed a simpler, more robust way to store, share and centrally back up large volumes of high-definition match and training video while competing at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Facing a cumbersome setup of RAID FireWire drives and Mac mini servers, Hockey New Zealand adopted a Synology Inc. solution using DiskStation models DS1515+ and DS216+ and Cloud Station ShareSync to meet real-time on-tour and head-office storage needs.

Synology Inc. deployed a DS1515+ at the Hockey New Zealand head office and a DS216+ in Rio, using Cloud Station ShareSync and DiskStation Manager (DSM) to provide real-time syncing and an easy-to-use interface. The result: the legacy system was eliminated, HD footage synced instantly from Rio to Auckland, files became scalable and centrally backed up, and analysts, coaches and players gained quick, IT-light access to critical video for performance analysis.
