Ayuntamiento de Alaquàs - Customer Case Study

Ajuntament d'Alaquàs, the Valencian city council serving over 30,000 residents and operating with about 200 staff, needed stronger safeguards for sensitive citizen data (public security, urban planning, taxation, etc.) and GDPR compliance. Already using a Synology DS2015xs on‑premises, the council turned to Synology Inc. and its solutions (Synology C2 Backup, Hyper Backup, Snapshot Replication) to provide an offsite, encrypted layer of protection against drive failures, disasters and ransomware.

Synology Inc. implemented Synology C2 Backup to extend on‑site NAS backups to a European cloud with client‑side AES‑256/RSA‑2048 encryption, GDPR‑compliant data residency, multi‑version retention and file‑level restore. The council was able to configure backups and a new backup policy in minutes, gain granular restoration and remote access across departments (council, police, social services, library, health), and now protects municipal data for tens of thousands of residents and hundreds of staff with stronger encryption and faster recovery capabilities.
