Audio Media A/S, one of Denmark’s oldest technology publishers, faced constant, overlapping editorial deadlines that required always-on, flexible storage and a more reliable backup than their aging Windows/tape systems. To address uptime, scalability and ease of administration, Audio Media chose NAS solutions from Synology Inc.: a DiskStation DS1513+ as the primary file server and a RackStation RS812RP+ as the rack-based backup unit.

Synology Inc. implemented the DS1513+ (configured with Synology Hybrid RAID and link-aggregation-capable LAN ports) for fast, low-energy file serving and the RS812RP+ (redundant power/fans and dual LAN with failover) as the backup backbone. The result was seamless integration into a Windows Server 2012 environment, improved workflow for 15 staff plus freelancers, much faster and more reliable full backups with no tape outages since installation, simplified administration via DSM, and scalable capacity (DS1513+ expandable up to 75 TB and RS812RP+ expandable via RX410).
