Albertine Scherer Grundschule Birkenheide - Customer Case Study

Albertine Scherer Grundschule Birkenheide, a primary school of about 120 students and 8–10 teachers equipped with interactive whiteboards, needed a simple, secure central storage solution so teachers of all ages could share, manage and retrieve lesson materials from home without specialist support. To meet requirements for VPN remote access, granular user/group permissions, easy administration and compatibility with networked learning software, the school turned to Synology Inc.’s DS412+ DiskStation.

Synology Inc. deployed the DS412+ running DiskStation Manager and Package Center apps (VPN, File Station, Audio Station, DDNS) to provide secure remote access, straightforward user/group rights and fast delivery to all eight interactive whiteboards and student netbooks. As a result, teachers can prepare and publish interactive lessons and exercises from home, lesson preparation is faster and more flexible, files are centrally available to staff and students, and the school avoided buying an expensive server—making the DS412+ the cost‑effective heart of their pedagogical network.
