A Synology Inc. Case Study
Al Anba Newspaper, a major daily political paper in Kuwait, faced chaotic, manual backups (DVDs, tape drives, older NAS and SAN) for roughly 15 TB of data and lacked a centralized surveillance system for its Axis cameras. To address this, they adopted solutions from Synology Inc., including RS2414RP+ and RS3614xs+ NAS units, Hyper Backup, Synology High Availability, and Surveillance Station.
Synology Inc. built a high-availability cluster with two RS2414RP+ units and configured Hyper Backup to replicate data to an RS3614xs+ Disaster Recovery site, delivering complete hardware and data redundancy and multi-version backups. They also deployed Surveillance Station and the DS cam app to centrally monitor and record cameras with motion-triggered recording to reduce storage. The result: simplified, scheduled backups replacing DVDs/tapes, secure storage expansions handling about 20 TB of archive and current data across production and DR sites, uninterrupted service, and remote access for managers.
