The Irplast Group SPA - Customer Case Study

The Irplast Group SPA, a Northern Italy manufacturer of printed adhesive tape and packaging systems, needed to eliminate the risk of production stoppages because its IBM System i (AS/400) controls automated warehouse movements and shuttle deliveries. In addition to strict business-continuity requirements, Irplast wanted near‑real‑time reporting and BI from data on its IBM i. To address these needs they selected Syniti and its DBMoto solution.

Syniti implemented DBMoto to continuously synchronize the production IBM i with a backup IBM i and to replicate key DB2 tables to Microsoft SQL Server (2000/2005) systems used for operational reporting. The result was an almost immediate failover capability and up‑to‑date copies of warehouse, customer and order data for SQL Server Reporting Services and SharePoint publishing. Syniti’s solution delivered near‑real‑time reporting, reduced administrative overhead and ensured uninterrupted automated warehouse operations, materially improving decision-making and business continuity.
