A Syniti Case Study
Lab Logistics Group (LLG), a cooperative of more than 20 European laboratory supply companies providing centralized purchasing, warehousing and IT services, faced serious performance and blocking problems when its Microsoft SQL Server extensions accessed an IBM DB2/400 via ODBC. With about 150 users and growing, scheduled updates blocked SQL Server tables, interrupting business processes and risking costly platform changes; LLG evaluated and selected Syniti’s DBMoto real-time data replication product to address these issues.
Syniti implemented DBMoto to provide real-time, filtered replication between DB2/400 and SQL Server, splitting large DB2 tables into smaller, maintainable SQL tables and synchronizing only needed data (for example, current-year records). The solution decoupled systems, enabled reprogramming of warehouse and logistics processes with .NET, avoided an ERP replacement for five years, extended use of the AS/400 by two years, and delivered smoother, more responsive operations and faster user workflows.
