Cheshire County Council improves reporting performance by using Data Replication and Transformation Tool

Cheshire County Council in Chester faced severe performance issues when project teams ran reports directly against a Gupta SQLBase production database, causing the main application to slow or halt and forcing reports to be run overnight. To separate reporting workloads without major infrastructure changes, the Council selected Syniti and its DBMoto data replication and transformation tool to replicate reporting data off the production system.

Syniti implemented DBMoto to replicate Gupta SQLBase data to a Microsoft SQL Server (and later to Oracle) on a nightly basis, allowing users to run reports without impacting the production application. The solution was simple to set up in-house, required minimal maintenance, eliminated daytime performance degradations and slow backups, supported multiple project teams, and was delivered within budget—demonstrating clear improvements in reporting responsiveness and system stability under Syniti’s deployment.
