BancAssurance Popolari S.p.A - Customer Case Study

BancAssurance Popolari S.p.A., an Italian life insurance company, needed a fast, flexible way to populate a Microsoft SQL Server data warehouse from core systems running on IBM DB2 to support reporting, business intelligence and web applications. To avoid costly custom coding and enable rapid changes to tables and columns, BancAssurance Popolari S.p.A. selected Syniti, using the DBMoto data replication solution, to keep the transactional DB2 data continually synchronized with SQL Server.

Syniti implemented nightly DBMoto replications that move 188 tables — including some with hundreds of thousands to millions of rows — from IBM DB2 into the SQL Server “DB BAP” and then into the BAP data warehouse; the full operation completes in under 30 minutes. As a result, branch managers and executives gain timely, secure access to up-to-date reporting and web dashboards, the IT team (a single administrator) no longer needs to manage replication manually, and Syniti’s support has been minimal and responsive when required.
