Quickoffice, the worldwide leader in mobile office solutions and later acquired by Google, needed a robust way to read and write Microsoft Office files on Java platforms, including Android. Synerzip was brought in to build Java APIs for MS Office file handling, first for Office 2007 OOXML and later extended to support the older Office 2003 binary format, while dealing with incomplete specifications, incorrect documents, and the need to preserve data without corruption.

Synerzip delivered a high-performance, fault-tolerant Java document processing engine that became the foundation for Quickoffice’s Office products. The solution was paired with automated QA workflows for document collection, screenshot comparison, and reporting, helping Synerzip achieve high-quality delivery with minimal supervision and enabling the library to be ported to C++ for broader product use.
