The Nuance Group, a retail operator with 370 airport shops in 19 countries (over 40 in North America), faced operational strain from a poorly designed time-and-attendance system that was managed centrally. Store managers lacked timely staffing, scheduling and attendance data, while corporate HR/payroll was burdened with processing and reporting for more than 45 North American stores and roughly 1,000 employees.

Working with Synerion, Nuance deployed the TimeZone workforce-management solution with magnetic-stripe badge terminals and a Citrix-hosted server, licensing store managers to edit schedules, track time-off and approve payroll while a corporate “super-user” audits summaries. The ADP interface eliminated re-keying, payroll processing fell from four people to one, payroll expenses dropped about 75%, and managers gained immediate tools to optimize staffing and address attendance issues.
