A Synerion Case Study

Staples - Customer Case Study

Staples Canada, a national office-products retailer with over 300 stores and nearly 14,000 associates, faced the challenge of controlling labor costs while growing rapidly. Corporate needed a unified, bilingual and scalable time-and-attendance solution and central enrollment repository because store-level POS systems were inadequate for payroll, statutory holiday calculations and accurate labor reporting.

After selecting Synerion for its nationwide presence, bilingual support, fit and cost, Synerion installed store data collectors and in 2006 deployed TimeZone across stores, distribution centers and call centers using a train‑the‑trainer rollout and staged support handover. The centralized, integrated time and payroll system (with a web option for call centers) reduced deployment costs, improved reporting and cross‑functional cooperation among payroll, HR and finance, and helped Staples better manage labor expenses.
