Plasma-Therm Completes Successful Management Buyout with help from Adept Engineering Document Management

Plasma-Therm, a designer and manufacturer of advanced plasma process equipment, faced a critical challenge after a 2009 management buyout: they had to replace the former owner’s PLM-based document management quickly while continuing to deliver custom, design-to-order systems. After evaluating options against criteria like BOM and change control, Plasma-Therm selected Synergis Software’s Adept engineering document management (PDM) to provide the agility and revision control they needed.

Synergis Software implemented Adept and migrated Plasma-Therm’s legacy data into a new PDM environment, with the vendor’s team working around the clock to meet the go‑live deadline; the migration automation saved close to a month of manual work. Adept now manages roughly 150,000–200,000 documents, cut new-user training from about a month to a day, supports 25–30 significant engineering changes per month, enables flexible contractor access, and helped Plasma-Therm sail through ISO 9001 audits.
