How Viking Air Uses Adept to Supercharge their “Runway 2 Excellence” Continuous Improvement Program

Viking Air, an OEM specializing in de Havilland aircraft including the Twin Otter, needed to protect thousands of aging legacy drawings, improve version control, and manage frequent CNC program changes as part of its Runway 2 Excellence continuous improvement program. To move away from fragile Windows folders, spreadsheets and manual processes, Viking chose Adept engineering document management from Synergis Software to provide database-level control that shop-floor operators could use with minimal training.

Synergis Software implemented Adept to import and de-duplicate legacy drawings, link electronic records to the physical Vertical Lift Machine (VLM) locations, and manage CNC file checkout/check-in. The solution streamlined the library structure and permissions, greatly reduced repository size by eliminating redundant data, made drawings searchable and traceable across the company, improved compliance with Transport Canada, and delivered measurable productivity gains and fewer production delays for Viking Air.
