Global Freight Rail Manufacturer Miller Ingenuity Supports Creative Innovative Product Development with Adept Product Data Management

Miller Ingenuity, a global freight rail parts manufacturer with more than 60 years of history and a parts catalog north of 4,000 items, struggled with document control after a 2011 acquisition of roughly 600 top-level part numbers and with thousands of SolidWorks files locked in an encrypted PDM. To free and secure their intellectual property, improve cross-department access, and reduce manual drawing distribution, they selected Synergis Software’s Adept product.

Synergis Software migrated Miller’s encrypted database (files returned converted to native form in two days), delivered 4.5 days of on-site training, and integrated Adept with the company’s Epicor ERP. Miller now manages about 6,000 SolidWorks parts/drawings, 578 transmittals, 359 inspection plans and other documents in Adept, eliminated manual ECR processes, simplified ISO audits, moved toward a paperless shop floor, and reports substantial engineering time savings with 100% assurance employees access the latest revisions.
