A Synario Case Study
Chapman University faced rising competition among private colleges and needed a rigorous, multi‑year planning approach to align tuition, enrollment, capital projects and program growth with long‑term financial goals. To address this, Chapman adopted Synario, using the platform for integrated financial and capital modeling, scenario analysis and tuition‑pricing simulations to ensure decisions fit within board‑determined guidelines.
Using Synario, Chapman implemented integrated operating and capital models, enrollment and tuition scenarios, and endowment growth targets to test the financial impact of new programs and facilities before committing resources. The results: Chapman grew its endowment from $134 million to $392 million over ten years and shifted endowment liquidity from roughly 8% restricted to about 50% liquid, while gaining the ability to evaluate program and capital impacts across a multi‑year horizon with Synario.
