Taking the First Time Pass Rate From 10% to 90% for Black Cabbies

FreeNow, a rideshare platform operating in Ireland, faced a major workforce bottleneck: prospective black cab drivers needed to pass the demanding "Knowledge" exam, which had an average first-time pass rate of just 10%. To scale their driver pipeline and give candidates a way to study on the go, FreeNow partnered with Synap to deliver a tailored learning and assessment solution.

Synap developed and refined a mobile learning platform for FreeNow including question banks with maps and images, flagging/feedback, mock exams, Spaced Learning algorithms, and custom reporting so admins could identify readiness and target outreach. The Synap solution increased the first-time pass rate from 10% to 90%, enrolled 15,000 learners and helped create 250 new jobs in the first three months (over 1,000 since), while making admin management and candidate practice far easier.
