Medical Academy Uses Synap to Deliver Remote Proctored Exams During Covid-19

The American Academy of Osteopathy (AAO) needed to quickly convert its NMM/OMM resident paper exam to a secure online format when COVID-19 closed exam halls. They engaged Synap to provide an LMS and remote proctoring (Synap LMS with ProctorExam) to deliver fully proctored, automated exams and identity verification on a tight timeframe.

Synap set up the Synap LMS, integrated ProctorExam, formatted questions, ran tests, and provided hands‑on onboarding support, enabling live proctored exams for nearly 50 members within three weeks. Synap delivered detailed per‑question and per‑topic performance reports, webcam ID checks and flagged footage for review, allowing AAO to run exams that otherwise couldn’t occur and to use measurable item- and topic-level data to guide post‑exam moderation.
