How the trade association, UK Flour Millers, streamlined their exam management processes in a secure and accessible way

UK Flour Millers, the UK trade association for the flour milling industry, needed to modernise a very manual, paper-based exam process. Their in-person testing-centre model created heavy admin, security risks, and major accessibility problems for learners working in remote locations around the world. They selected Synap’s online exam platform, including its proctoring tool Synoptic, to support secure, accessible digital assessment delivery.

Synap helped UK Flour Millers automate grading, feedback, and results upload, while also improving exam security, user access, and administration through sub-portals, educator permissions, and API integration with FileMaker. The new setup reduced manual work, eliminated travel and paper-handling overhead, and made exams easier to take from anywhere on a candidate’s own device. UK Flour Millers reported overwhelmingly positive feedback from students, tutors, and examiners, and said they were “really, really, really happy” with Synap.
