wincanton, a european leader in supply chain solutions, faced a challenge when its top customers required invoices to be delivered in a specific XML format compliant with the VISA® Invoicing Standard. Their previous method of manually writing lengthy, inflexible RPG code on an IBM Power i was extremely time-consuming. The company needed a more efficient solution to generate approximately 2,500 of these complex invoices every month and turned to their long-time vendor, Symtrax, for help.

Symtrax provided its Compleo for XML solution, which offered a simple graphical interface to create XML templates directly from spool outputs. This allowed wincanton to build a template in about a day using a sample file from their customer and then automatically map the required data. The solution seamlessly integrated into their existing IT infrastructure and automated the entire process, including distribution via FTP. As a result, wincanton could offer XML invoicing as a valued-added service with a reliable, standardized output that met all customer requirements.
