California Air Resources Board launches one-stop smoke and prescribed fire app with Symsoft

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) partnered with SymSoft to develop the Smoke Spotter mobile application. The challenge was to take complex data from various agencies about prescribed fires and smoke and present it in a simple, user-friendly way for the public, turning it into an educational tool.

SymSoft designed and developed the application using React Native and a suite of AWS services, including AWS Amplify, AppSync, and Glue. The solution provides a one-stop shop for Californians to get information on prescribed fires, smoke forecasts, and air quality, allowing them to receive personalized alerts and make health-related decisions. SymSoft delivered a user-centric application that made critical environmental data easier to understand and more accessible to everyone.
