A Symplr Case Study
The Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha faced a paper-based provider management process that left files vulnerable, required time-consuming face-to-face committee reviews, and forced staff to spend about 40 hours monthly monitoring provider licenses. When the hospital’s previous supplier proposed an expensive, ill-fitting upgrade, the hospital selected Symplr and its symplr Provider platform (including License Monitor and Committee Manager) as a more suitable, cost-effective alternative.
Symplr implemented the symplr Provider platform with Committee Manager to move reviews online and License Monitor to automate license tracking; reviewers now access secure electronic files with audit trails and can complete reviews remotely. The result: monitoring 5,000 referring providers now takes about 30 minutes monthly (only ~10 providers flagged) instead of 40 staff hours, the solution cost roughly half of the legacy vendor’s proposal, overtime was eliminated for accurate budgeting, and overall confidentiality, efficiency, and Joint Commission preparedness improved.
