A Symplr Case Study
Kettering Health, a nonprofit network of 13 Dayton- and Cincinnati-area hospitals with 120 outpatient facilities, ~14,000 employees and 1,300 physicians, struggled with fragmented, low-quality provider data after migrating to Epic. Provider information lived in multiple disconnected systems, was updated by many owners, and contained duplicates and unverified referring-provider records. To address this, Kettering Health engaged Symplr and its symplr Directory solution.
Symplr implemented symplr Directory, extracting nearly 20,000 credentialed and referring providers into a centralized, validated platform and enabling real-time updates, provider enrollment, and targeted validation via an “Unverified Provider” report. As a result, Symplr gave Kettering Health a single trusted source of provider data, standardized workflows, eliminated duplicate/inaccurate records, improved outreach and compliance (HIPAA and state pharmacy regulations), reduced misdirected results, and enhanced the public Find-a-Doctor experience through Symplr’s Provider Search API.
