New England Biolabs (NEB), a global leader in enzymes for genomic research, faced rapid, double-digit growth and an aging SAP ECC 6.0 environment that lacked key functionality for production planning, eProcurement and product costing. NEB needed a scalable, secure “cloud first” ERP platform to support its NEBnow Freezer IoT initiative and global expansion but had a small IT team without the required SAP HANA/S/4HANA experience, so they engaged Symmetry to help modernize their SAP landscape.

Symmetry implemented a phased migration—upgrading NEB to Suite on HANA, accelerating SAP HANA into the new environment in just weeks via the Symmetry HANA Cloud Platform (powered by Hewlett Packard Enterprises), and then advancing to S/4 HANA 1610 with Fiori interfaces. The move delivered real-time data for faster business decisions, stronger security and scalability for global and IoT initiatives, and a smooth, rapid rollout (Suite on HANA completed and S/4 HANA work started two months later), giving NEB a reliable platform and on-demand Symmetry support to sustain future growth.
