ControlPanelGRC adds value to Graham Packaging’s GRC efforts

Graham Packaging, a global manufacturer of custom blowmolded plastic containers with 80 plants and ~7,500 employees in 16 countries, faced growing governance, risk and compliance (GRC) demands after becoming an SEC registrant. The company’s first-generation GRC tool was cumbersome, only about 25% of its functionality was used, and preparing the annual SOX audit required roughly a week of staff time due to manual data gathering. Seeking a simpler, lower-cost alternative, Graham Packaging evaluated and selected Symmetry’s ControlPanelGRC.

Symmetry implemented ControlPanelGRC to automate SOX and Segregation of Duties processes and to streamline SAP security and master-data tasks; the Symmetry team provided hands-on support throughout the rollout. Results were immediate: repetitive tasks have been reduced by 50% (with potential to reach 75%), annual SOX audit preparation time was cut by about a week, and users now self-serve security reports and master-data changes—relieving major IT choke points and delivering payback in under a year.
