New York’s Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DOITT) - Customer Case Study

New York’s Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DOITT) needed to help the NYC Department of Justice meet a legal requirement to arraign arrestees within 24 hours, but as many as 30% of cases were missing the deadline. This created both an operational bottleneck and a public safety concern, since some arrestees were automatically released before arraignment. DOITT brought in Sygma Technology to address the issue.

Sygma Technology developed an online arraignment application with a custom case-tracking web portal to move defendants from arrest to arraignment more efficiently. The web-based system streamlined the end-to-end process, reduced manual intervention by DOJ staff, and helped the Justice Department meet its 24-hour arraignment obligation.
