TalkTalk, a major UK telecommunications provider, faced the significant challenge of securing telephone payments to achieve PCI DSS compliance. Their original process, which involved agents manually entering card details heard on recorded calls, posed a security risk. To solve this, they partnered with vendor Sycurio to implement a solution that would keep their contact center out of scope for PCI DSS.

Sycurio implemented its Sycurio.Voice solution, which uses DTMF masking technology to let customers securely enter card details via their phone keypad. This prevented sensitive data from being stored on TalkTalk's systems or call recordings. The implementation by Sycurio was a success, allowing TalkTalk to become fully PCI DSS compliant and securely process over 18,000 payments per week through this channel, significantly increasing security and customer confidence.
