A swyMed Case Study
River Edge Behavioral Health Center, a community-based behavioral health provider in Macon, Georgia, needed a way to expand access to care across rural and suburban sites, reduce missed appointments, and support urgent clinical decisions when staff were not on-site. To address this challenge, River Edge partnered with swyMed, using its secure telehealth application, formerly VeaMea, as part of a hub-and-spokes telemedicine model.
With swyMed, River Edge enabled clinicians to assess, diagnose, and intervene remotely from a laptop, internet connection, and webcam, supporting services across 15 locations. The program helped save lives in crisis situations, cut no-show rates by 12 percent, and grow telemedicine use from just 2 patients in FY2008/09 to 516 unduplicated clients by FY2012/13. River Edge also reported improved access to care, enhanced clinical outcomes, lower operating costs, and better staff retention through the swyMed-enabled telehealth program.
