How Scotia Square uses EV charging to amp up the appeal of its parking facility

Scotia Square, a major commercial and retail community in Halifax managed by Crombie REIT, faced the challenge of meeting the rising demand for EV charging at its 1,700-space parking facility. Their initial charging stations, installed in 2015, required expansion to attract and accommodate the growing number of electric vehicle drivers. They partnered with EV charging provider SWTCH to implement a newer, smarter network of charging stations to enhance their parking service's appeal.

SWTCH installed networked charging stations that provided Scotia Square with a comprehensive admin dashboard for monitoring usage, managing billing, and refining pricing strategies. The solution resulted in high demand, with all six stations frequently in use, driving repeat business and increasing revenue through longer dwell times. The SWTCH platform and support team also minimized administrative hassle by providing remote monitoring and proactive maintenance. This successful implementation has led to ongoing discussions about further expanding the SWTCH charging network to other locations within the community.
