Condo Unit Owners Band Together and Install 57 EV Chargers

The Merton Street Condo, a residential building in Toronto, faced the complex challenge of installing electric vehicle charging infrastructure for its residents without overloading its existing electrical system or incurring prohibitive upfront costs. The condo board partnered with vendor SWTCH and installers Simply EV Charging Solutions to develop a scalable plan.

SWTCH provided its hardware and intelligent load management software, which was specifically designed for multi-family properties. Crucially, SWTCH connected the condo to the ZEVIP grant program, which covered 50% of the project costs. This resulted in the installation of 57 Level 2 chargers, future-proofing the property, enhancing unit values, and eliminating a key barrier to EV ownership for residents, all while allowing the building to use its existing power infrastructure responsibly.
