NASA Selected Active Risk Manager (ARM) to Support the Risk Management Process and Improve Safety, Control and Predictability

NASA needed a better way to manage the safety, performance, cost, and schedule risks tied to complex space missions, with information often trapped in separate parts of the organization. After reviewing the market, NASA selected Sword GRC’s Active Risk Manager (ARM) because it was GSA-approved and offered a flexible, configurable risk management platform.

Sword GRC implemented Active Risk Manager across selected NASA programs, starting at Stennis Space Center and expanding to projects such as Mission to Mars and Global Precipitation Measurement. The solution improved communication and collaboration, standardized risk reporting, and saved time by replacing repetitive PowerPoint-based reports; NASA said this time saving alone could cut millions of dollars from annual expenditures and free more budget for engineering and mitigation work.
