Case Study: Downer achieves enterprise-wide safety risk visibility with Sword GRC's Active Risk Manager

A Sword GRC Case Study

Preview of the Downer Case Study

Downer manages safety in rail business with holistic risk approach

Downer, a major rail and infrastructure services provider, needed a more enterprise-wide way to manage safety and risk across its national operations. Its existing risk registers kept hazards in silos, which made it hard to spot lower-level risks with wider business implications. Downer turned to Sword GRC and its Active Risk Manager (ARM) platform to support a more holistic approach.

Sword GRC implemented ARM as the backbone of Downer’s SHREQ framework, giving teams real-time visibility across safety, health, risk, environment, and quality, while linking project, site, and enterprise-level risks. The results included more than a 50% improvement in the Safety Interface Agreement program, 12 months lost-time-injury free across sites and depots, and more efficient audits with fewer people required, alongside stronger compliance and better risk mitigation across the business.
